WinSpell

Check Your Spelling in ANY Windows Application

WinSpell is a Windows spelling supervisor which can check your
spelling three different ways.
1) WinSpell acts in real-time, as you type. While typing,
WinSpell will notify you as soon as you misspell a word.
2) WinSpell spell checks files such as Windows Write files and ASCII
text files.
3) WinSpell checks the spelling of information copied to the
Clipboard.
These three modes of WinSpell allow you to check your spelling in
virtually any Windows application, including DOS based applications
running in a window, spreadsheets, telecommunication packages, etc.
Shown below the original file directory information as displayed from

If these are not met exactly, or you would prefer to receive an
evaluation (ungregistered) copy directly from R&TH Inc., feel free to
call us at:
(319) 362-6242 or (319) 338-0477
for a valid evaluation diskette. In addition, RT&H Inc. would
like to know of invalid evaluation copies in circulation.
WinSpell is ShareWare and as such, you have certain obligations to
register WinSpell if you use it past the initial evaluation period.
See the documentation in WINSPELL.WRI or WINSPELL.DOC for details on
license information.
In order to install this evaluation version:
1) Expand the (compressed) archive file:
pkunzip winspell
2) Run the Installation script (batch file) from floppy:
install [drive:]path
where drive represents the hard disk on which WinSpell should
be installed and path represents the directory in which WinSpell
should be placed.
Note that if you expand the archive file to your hard disk, your
installation is essentially complete. You need not run the
INSTALL.BAT script. Simply add the directory in which you
placed WinSpell to your DOS PATH. See your DOS manual for details
on the PATH environmental variable.
3) Follow remaining instructions as specified by the installation
script.
The following is an explanation for each file:

you will want to add to your program manager in
Windows, or have Windows load via the "load=" option
in WIN.INI.
WINSPELL.EXE is required for proper operation.
HOOK.DLL - WinSpell's dynamic link library.
HOOK.DLL is required for proper operation.
WINSPELL.HLP - WinSpell's Help file for use in Windows Help.
WINSPELL.HLP is not required for proper operation.
WINSPELL.WRI - Disk based documentation for WinSpell
WINSPELL.WRI is not required for proper operation.

(See the WINSPELL.WRI file for detailed information
on this file).

ASC2DCT.EXE - Conversion program for producing a WinSpell dictionary
from an ASCII file.
ASC2DCT.EXE is not required for proper operation.
(See the WINSPELL.WRI file for detailed information
on this file).
DCT2ASC.EXE - Conversion program for producing an ASCII text file
from a WinSpell dictionary (.DCT) file.

(See the WINSPELL.WRI file for detailed information
on this file).
One note; a minor bug has been identified in the demonstration version of
WinSpell which causes a (completely harmless) error message which informs
you that there has been a file read error if you type a word that is not
in the common dictionary during a file or Clipboard check. This bug does
not exist in the registered version of WinSpell. What the error message
tells you is that the word is not spelled correctly as far as the common
dictionary is concerned. You will need to check that word later after
the file or clipboard check is complete.
